Nominations for the 2026 MTV VMAs Best Cinematography category, announced in mid-August, pit six visually ambitious videos against one another ahead of fan voting closing September 25 and the September 27 ceremony. Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia,” shot by Oscar-nominated Rodrigo Prieto with elaborate Busby Berkeley-style sequences and theatrical production design, holds the strongest market position at 38.5% amid her nine total nods and established VMA dominance. Ariana Grande’s “hate that i made you love me,” featuring Janusz Kamiński’s work and seven nominations overall, sits close behind at 32%. Madonna’s “Confessions II – The Film” trails at 25% despite her category-leading 13 nods and short-film scope, while lower-probability entries like Shaboozey’s “Cowgirl” and A$AP Rocky’s “Punk Rocky” reflect narrower visual campaigns. Late reviews, streaming metrics, and last-minute fan mobilization could still shift the tight field.
