Sebastian Baez, ranked No. 52 with strong clay-court credentials including multiple ATP titles, enters the Bucharest Open Round of 32 as the higher seed against No. 101 Vilius Gaubas on outdoor clay. Baez reached the Buenos Aires quarterfinals in February before early exits on hard courts in Indian Wells and Miami, showcasing his surface preference where he excels in baseline rallies. Gaubas, a 21-year-old Lithuanian at a career-high ranking after a 10-10 start to 2026, fell in the Alicante Challenger second round last week on clay to Max Houkes. No head-to-head history exists; traders weigh Baez's experience against Gaubas's momentum from recent Challenger deep runs, with weather and fatigue from travel as minor factors.
