**Strong summer performance, led by record-breaking tentpoles like *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* (nearing $923M domestic) and *The Odyssey*, has propelled 2026’s year-to-date domestic total past $7.3B by early September—up roughly 20% from the same point in 2025 and the best post-pandemic pace since 2019.** This momentum, including the first summer to exceed $4.76B and surpass the prior record, reflects robust audience turnout for major franchises, originals, and animated titles amid broader industry recovery. Traders see the full-year haul landing around $9.5B or higher once fall and holiday releases (including *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Dune: Part Three*) factor in, a figure competitive with recent strong years but still short of the all-time peaks near $11B+ from 2018–2019. That positioning supports the market’s heavy weighting toward a mid-tier historical rank (10th–12th), while the lower odds on top-six or bottom placements reflect the gap to pre-pandemic highs and the uncertainty of late-year legs. Key catalysts ahead include weekly chart updates and holiday tracking that could shift implied probabilities if grosses accelerate or soften.

2026's rank will be determined against the figures for every other year listed on that same chart, such that the highest-grossing year on record ranks 1st, the second-highest ranks 2nd, and so on. This market will resolve to the bracket containing 2026's final rank.
This market will resolve according to unadjusted nominal gross. Inflation-adjusted figures, ticket sales, and admissions will not be used for resolution purposes.
This market will resolve according to the Box Office Mojo annual figures regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc., and regardless of whether a year's total includes grosses earned by films released in prior years.
If 2026's final figure is exactly equal to that of another year, 2026 will be treated as holding the higher-ranking (lower-numbered) of the tied positions for the purposes of determining its bracket.
If there is no final data available by January 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.
