Texas's 21st congressional district has favored Republican candidates for decades, with the seat held by the party since 1978 and Donald Trump carrying it by double digits in 2024. Incumbent Chip Roy's retirement to pursue the Texas attorney general post created an open seat. In the March 2026 Republican primary, former MLB player Mark Teixeira secured the nomination with a decisive victory and key endorsements. Democrat Kristin Hook emerged from her primary as the general-election nominee. Forecasters rate the race Solid or Safe Republican, aligning with the district's partisan voting index and historical margins that position the Republican nominee as the strong favorite ahead of the November general election.
