Michigan's 6th congressional district, anchored in Democratic-leaning areas including Ann Arbor and parts of Washtenaw and Wayne counties, carries a Cook Partisan Voter Index of D+12 and has delivered consistent Democratic margins in recent cycles. Incumbent Representative Debbie Dingell, first elected in 2014 and part of a family with nearly a century of representation in southeastern Michigan, won her last general election by 24 points and faces no serious primary challenge ahead of the August 4, 2026, contest. Nonpartisan forecasters rate the seat Solid or Safe Democratic, aligning with trader consensus that assigns the Democratic Party a 92 percent implied probability. A Republican victory would require either an unprecedented national shift or an unforeseen event such as a major scandal or health-related withdrawal by the incumbent.
