Flavio Bolsonaro holds an 80.5% implied probability of finishing first in Rio de Janeiro during the October 2026 first round, reflecting sustained local backing in his home state as the Liberal Party nominee and son of former president Jair Bolsonaro. Recent state-specific surveys, including Datafolha and Real Time Big Data from late August and early September, place him at 36-41% among Rio voters, ahead of or statistically tied with incumbent President Lula at 34-37%, while other candidates such as Ronaldo Caiado, Romeu Zema, Renan Santos, and Augusto Cury register in single digits. The start of free television and radio advertising in late August, combined with national polling trends showing a narrowing gap, has reinforced trader focus on Bolsonaro family strength in the state’s electorate ahead of the vote.
