Alexander Zverev secured the 2026 US Open men's singles title by defeating Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 in the final, capping a dominant run that included his earlier French Open victory and consistent deep runs across the majors. The top seed's strong serve, tiebreak execution, and experience in high-stakes matches against Shelton, whom he had dominated in prior encounters, drove the market's complete consensus around his win. Shelton's path featured notable upsets, including over defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, but lacked the depth to overcome Zverev on the day. Factors such as late injuries, weather delays on hard courts, or an unexpected semifinal collapse could have shifted outcomes, though none materialized to alter the result.
